What it remembers.
Childhood. A wrong turn. Something that stayed.
Fictional memories from the B2BW universe.
CHILDHOODA crown from the drawer
The child found a green headscarf in a drawer that smelled of warm metal. Tied around the head, it looked like a crown in the dark window. The reflection bowed first. That was how the kingdom began.
THE WRONG TURNThe first decree
The first royal order was that nobody should laugh at the face. The room obeyed. So did the reflection. When laughter finally returned, it came from the empty drawer. The king ordered it shut and never found the key.
STILL HERECourt is in session
Now the headscarf is worn every day. The expression stays foolish because a serious face might upset the subjects. Nobody knows who the subjects are. At dusk, the king looks towards the drawer and waits for permission to sit down.
Beyond the first glance.
